History

In 1931, George Michaelides created the restaurant after returning home 12 years in Sudan. It was just a yard with a running spring water. The restaurant served only only one dish - Kebab. Customers had different habits at the time. They used to bring their own meat and the restaurant provided the utensils cooked the meat on a stew. World War 2 was hard on the people of Cyprus. But George Michaelides had no other means of earning any money so he kept the restaurant. 1945 WWII Nowadays
After WWII Cyprus used to have visitors from Egypt. Egyptians used to come to Cyprus summertime and stay mainly at the Troodos area where the weather was cool and pleasant. It was in the 1950 that Berengaria Hotel of Prodoromos village (about 1 Km from our restaurant) was possibly the most popular hotel of Cyprus. King Farouk of Egypt had visited and dined at our restaurant at that time. 1950's During the 1955 to 1959 there was trouble between the Cypriots and the English regarding the right of independence of the people of Cyprus. Again there was hardship. George Michaelides again kept the restaurant running although very little money could be made.
Now the restaurant is passing to the third generation. The grandsons of George Michaelides are have taken over and operate the restaurant in the same manner as before. We cook the same food in the same way and offer drinks chilled under the cold water of the spring. We endeavor to keep the tradition in the family and we invite travelers to visit and enjoy their meal at our restaurant.
